Lake Wörthersee
Continue with the largest lake in Carinthia: the Wörthersee. It covers 19.39 km² and is also one of the warmest Alpine lakes in the area. Surrounded by the gentle mountains of the Alps, especially the scenery of the lake enchants its visitors year after year. For this reason, you can expect a lot of visitors at this lake. However, it is definitely worth a visit because you can enjoy action-packed water sports activities, such as water skiing or wakeboarding over the sparkling water surface. You can explore the Wörthersee with a sailing or motorboat or you can explore the water with the quiet alternative, the SUP Board. By the way, most of the lakes in Bad Kleinkirchheim have these offers. All around, nature invites you to take a bicycle ride or a walk. By car you need about 50 minutes from our hotel to the Wörthersee.
Lake Millstatt
At 141 meters, Lake Millstatt is the deepest lake in Carinthia and offers plenty of room for exploration, not just for divers. Nestled in the Alps, it is the ideal starting point for hikes, mountain bike tours, or climbing tours in the Nockberge mountains. A cycle path runs along the northern shore, offering wonderful views over Lake Millstatt. There are also various water sports activities – from stand-up paddling and wakeboarding to canoeing, pedal boating, water skiing, sailing and surfing. The 11 lidos and 3 diving stations, as well as numerous boat rentals, invite you to enjoy a varied water experience, and you can also explore the beautiful, untouched southern shore. If you are looking for relaxation, why not visit the Badehaus Kärnten in Millstatt? Numerous saunas, a heated outdoor pool, and private access to the lake await you here. From our hotel in Bad Kleinkirchheim, it just takes you 20 minutes to get to Lake Millstatt.
Lake Ossiacher See
Alternatively, you can also visit the Ossiacher See, which is about 39 minutes’ drive closer to Bad Kleinkirchheim. Both young and old will have a lot of fun here, because the Ossiacher See is a real nature playground. You can release a lot of adrenalin during the offered paragliding flight directly over the beautiful Ossiacher See.
Feld am See
If you like it quieter and smaller, Feld am See is certainly the right destination. After only 15 minutes you will reach the small village with its beautiful bathing lake. Every year in July a great spectacle takes place here: Carinthia’s biggest fish festival is celebrated! You can try tasty, unique fish dishes and enjoy the exuberant atmosphere of the festival.
Afritzer See
Lake Afritzer See is only 19 minutes away and very close to our accommodation in Bad Kleinkirchheim. It is definitely not as crowded as Lake Millstätter See or Lake Wörthersee. The natural bathing lake is harmoniously embedded between wooded slopes and delights its visitors with the peace and idyll it spreads. Fishermen meet a real wealth of fish in Lake Afritz, from trout and pike to eels and chars, fishermen can catch here. With sanitary facilities, restaurants in the vicinity and parking spaces, the smaller lake is in no way inferior to the other lakes in Bad Kleinkirchheim.
And if the weather doesn’t play along, you can also simply visit the St. Kathrein thermal spa in the village itself for extensive water fun or treat yourself to a few hours of pure relaxation in the Römerbad thermal spa. Both baths are only a stone’s throw away from our hotel and guarantee bathing fun for the whole family! As you see, your next summer in the mountains of Austria will be more than exciting!
